Here's the situation: I moved to a new neighborhood and don't know anyone here (other than my roommates). I searched on MySpace and messaged some people my age and have been meeting up for coffee and such. This one girl, who I haven't met yet, seems oddly similar to me so I invited her out tonight to go to a friend's rock show and to also go out dancing. Not a formal date, mind you, but I wouldn't have minded hitting on her into the wee hours of the night. She accepted and we were all set - until Wednesday. She emails me and says that she has to wake up early on Saturday and couldn't go out late, but gave me her number and told me to call her if I wanted to grab a drink before I head to the show.

Instead, I probably screwed up by replying "sure, instead of just getting a drink would you like to catch a movie earlier in the night?" She read that email but hasn't replied. Now I'm overthinking things and wonder if I should call her tonight or just let it slide.

The stakes aren't that high - I'm going to the show with a pretty young lady and dancing with a friend of mine who's now single (not sure if I'd try anything though). So I'm not desperate - I'm going to have fun tonight regardless. But would calling her make me seem desperate?

I was getting all anxious and worried but she just called me - said that she'd love to meet for dinner and apologized for not getting back to me sooner...

She was awesome! Girl #1, that is. Much cuter in person and, while she couldn't go out dancing, we had a 2 hour conversation and we're going out to dinner again soon. Girl #2 was cute and nice and such, we flirted a little bit and snuggled on the dance floor, but then felt bad because she's so young (19) and we had a big maturity gap. we came back to my place and played video games until 6 am, which I know some of you guys will think that I'm a douche for doing. Girl #3 flaked... Argh.. So, yeah, I'm glad I didn't call!

Here's your answer... you have too many friends who are girls... the first girl is the ugliest of the bunch, but you might be stuck in the friend zone with the other two...

She wanted to go have drinks. Should have just stuck with that.

Call her and say "yeah actually just drinks sounds good. If you're up for it still."

don't care so much. make other plans for saturday that you cancell if she replies. btw movies are terrible place to go with a girl.

Ha...so true. Like someone as EMO as this guy would be able to snag any of the chicks he has in these pictures... ;)

You're right, I used to have too many female friends - now I'm not letting these new girls get into the friend territory.. I've been reading "The Game" - I'm ready!

And I don't get why people think I'm lying. I *never* ever say that I slept with any of these girls. I'm trying to, but I aint bragging about something that I haven't done (ok, i'm not trying to sleep with girl #3 - she's a friend and not in my league, regardless)... Do i know attractive girls? Of course I do - I live in NYC, the place attractive girls from all over the world flock to in order to make it in film or fashion. I also lived in Williamsburg, BK and work in SoHo - even the cashiers in SoHo are hot... So don't accuse me of lying when I have no reason to... I'm not bragging, mostly expressing how pathetic i am.

Of course she looks better in her myspace pics - one was a picture from her modeling portfolio, the other pics were taken while I was drunk, in a dimly lit club. You should see apicture of another friend of mine - she looks amazing in her model shots, like crap in her real world pics.
