Time and focusing on other things. You can take all the time in the world, but if you use that time to think about her you will make yourself worse. When people in your situation think about these things, they usually focus on only the good and not what lead up to the separation.

Also don't think it's always someone's fault for a breakup. Most of the time, there really is no blame other than two people just being different.

Personally I find after a breakup getting into dating and socializing right away is the best medicine. Nothing to take your mind off an ex then to find someone that knocks your socks off. Just keep it light and don't move to fast and when the inevitable questions of 'what were your exes like' comes up keep it simple and to the point. I often will describe them, what they did for a living and usually mention we merely were heading in different directions. There are a couple I have no problem being honest in their stupidity in the relationship though.

People mostly find those that only had exes-from-hell are usually the problem in that ;).

It's Saturday, hit some kind of club/bar/hang out and mingle.

Don't be irrational by drinking or doing drugs, they're not going to improve anything. Take up a positive hobby. Exercising is a great option, but there are other things to do like studying a martial art or start painting. Allow yourself some time for grief. When I went through a similar situation I would allocate myself maybe ten minutes to be upset about it while I was driving then I'd get out of my car and face the world again. BTW how old are you OP?

Edit: No, seriously, there's no instant cure.

Exactly, you just have to give yourself time and allow it to pass. Try to stay as drama free as you can.
