YAGT: Should I lose in chess?

Win if you can win. It makes little difference to the girl whether she wins or loses to you in chess. It's how you make use of the time in between moves that makes the difference. If she is really competitive and wants a concentrated game of chess try that, but if she just wants to play for fun then just have fun with the game and chat with her.

Luckily the Mexicans that were watching walked by at that moment, and laughed at her.

Then the class laughed at her.

If you know you are going to beat someone give them a handicap so that your masculinity is not in question if you lose and it might actually be competitive.
 
If she sucks i wouldn't let her win, but i wouldn't be an a-hole about either. be creative and don't go for the quick win.
