UPDATE

Got it!

I bought a deactivated Colt M1911A1... that turned out to be a 1918 M1911 Arsenal rebuild.

I'm really pleased it's a bit beaten up, but it's got loads of history and it's nice an old. :)

Yay me.

I know some of you guys don't like deactivated guns, but I'm pretty pleased, I haven't bought myself anything for a while and this cheered me up a bit. Also, those who hate the notion of a deactivated gun you'll be pleased to hear that all that's been done to it really is a bolt welded in the barrel and the firing pin has been filed down, not exactly ruined it.

Deactivated Pistol, they are legal to own in the UK, and I think it would be fun, I love guns (despite my feelings on the morality of owning working one) So I'd love something to fiddle with while sat at my desk, or to wander around the house with and aim at the cat (bloody cat)

I'm looking for something aesthetically pleasing, and cheap, potentially with the ability to add / change bits, from sights to grips.

I'm sure you guys don't know the price of deactivated guns in the UK, but if it's expensive when it's active, then it's just as expensive deactivated.

Seems like the cheapest deactivated guns to buy are Russian AK's, but I'm thinking a pistol.

My personal favourite looking guns are:

Walther PPK's (I wish I was James Bond)
1911's
Glock 18/19's
Beretta 92F's

Please note I don't know that much about guns, compared to you guys, so any info is welcome.

Also, If you have come into this thread to argue about morality / gun ownership / laws in the UK or just about any other loosely related / unrelated subject please feel free to PM me and we can discuss it until your heart is content.

No HAL... just no. Instead, donate the money to whatever group in the UK advocates and fights for gun rights.

Nah, that's no fun, I'm not one for donations or joining organised fighters for a given cause. It's not my style.

375 pounds for a paperweight? lol no, that is not reasonable. You also carry the risk that a bobby or someone could mistake it for a real gun.

Well I won't be carrying it in the street so it's not a big deal, Is that reasonable compared to an active one?

Are Airsoft guns legal in the UK? At least they shoot something.

They are, but not realistic looking ones. I'm not looking to shoot anything.

Ah I'm not a huge fan of playing with the cat.

I love guns, I love the mechanics of them, the way they work is incredibly interesting to me, I enjoy holding them (starting to sound like schniederguy now) I'd find it fun to sit and dismantle / cock / load one while I'm bored.

Either you are having a bad day, or you are trolling. Your comment flies in the face of your stance on guns.

If you want anyone to take you seriously, you have to walk what you talk.

Never read a parody, hypocritical, troll, attention-whoring thread before?

This involves no parody, no hypocrisy, no trolling, I've no interest in gaining your attention either. This a genuine thread, with a legitimate question and I'm asking the right audience as there is collective knowledge here about the subject matter.
