I guess you might want to ask if it's the strain that can result in cervical cancer in women - future partners probably wouldn't be thrilled of you passing that one on to them.

Otherwise you might as well not sweat it.

That's HPV. And everyone has HPV.
Trust me, there are plenty of ATOTers that don't have HPV. It requires human contact.

I see what you did thar

okay so what causes hsv 1? just contacting the skin of someone else who has it?

so basically if she got it, then she's been at least kissing, possibly blowing other dudes?

I do understand that HSV is probably the most ubiquious human virus on the planet and while I appreciate her honesty, it does give me pause since HSV is an incurable infectious disease. Would a guy (or girl) be an asshole for calling off a relationship simply on account of HSV?

Oral herpes?

does that mean u already have it since u kissed her?

if you've had chicken pox, you have herpes.

Explain that a little more please.

A person usually has only one episode of chickenpox, but VZV can lie dormant within the body and cause a different type of skin eruption later in life called shingles (or herpes zoster). Getting the chickenpox vaccine significantly lowers your child's chances of getting chickenpox, but he or she may still develop shingles later.

OMG, The herp!

So while it's technically teh herp, it's not teh herp in a way that actually matters.

That's just silly. Like many others have said, a majority of the population gets cold sores; unless she has a whole other slew of STDs, I wouldn't care.

I have HSV-1 as well, and it wasn't my fault I have it; I've had it since I was born. Of course, I'm careful before I start making out with a woman, and I obviously don't engage in any interpersonal activities when I have a breakout.

If you manage to get hit with shingles, you are going to wish you had a cold sore outbreak. Cold sores are nothing compared to shingles, especially the pain.

ATOT only dates the hottest chicks that are 100% STD free since they were virgins.

I have dated some chicks with HSV2 but I don't have it. It's pretty common to have HSV1 or 2.

HPV is very common also.

The main difference between genital herpes and ora herpes is that for some reason, the oral form has social acceptance.

its socially acceptable, because by the time you are 50, chances are, you have it.

i dont know how i got it, i dont remember ever kissing anyone with it. i think i may have drank from the same glass wayyyy the hell back when.

Sorry, I don't care if it drastically reduces my potential breeding pool. I'm free of STDs now, and I'm going to stay that way if I can help it.

Just because you have never shown symptoms or recognized them doesn't mean you can't have it. You can be an asymptomatic carrier.

Chances are you probably wil lend up with either HPV or HSV1 in life anyway so why not. I've had HSV1 for as long as I remember and as long as you use a condom your chances of getting HPV are nil even though 50% of women have it.

HSV also does not always cause a breakout so if you think you dont have it, you may already have it anyway. I believe that most people dont get breakouts with HSV1 ever and those of us that do have ti like oce every 18 months or so. Also HSV1 is not easily transmitted to the genitals and even if it does usualyl dosent survive very long.

So in conclusion, all you idiots do have it, you just dont break out because for most people it is permantly dormant.

As long as you have it, why not kiss around?

...or I have higher standards than the typical fatalistic attitude on here of "well, I'll maybe eventually have it so why not!"

also, I've been with my GF for 1.9 years so....not an ATOT virgin, sorry.

hsv = 1 in 4 women & @80something% don't know they have it
that's why it's a good idea to get blood tests before getting intimate
