.45 is a more practical caliber for self-defense IMO (in that it is a lot easier to make followup shots). .44 magnum is much superior for hunting, if you care.

From someone who has shot both... 45 ACP. 44 is fun to play with, just not as practical, unless you plan to hunt with it.

Hahaha... our posts were almost identical. If I wasnt typing one-handed (brushing my teeth, not fapping), I think I would have beat you to it

I'm not a fan of revolvers, so I'll say .45.

Is DE the only company that makes a .44 semi-auto?

I would agree with the fun part. My dad has a six shooter .44, that is bar none the funnest handgun I've ever shot. I could blow chunks out of things all day long with it. :D

Another vote for the .45ACP
The double-tap + follow up is alot easier with the .45 IMO.

I think they are nowadays. You still see those weird Automags on the used market, but as I recall they use a unique cartridge with a .44 bullet in a cutdown .308 casing, and so they are hideously expensive to shoot.

.45. They're just so much damn fun to shoot. Always felt very comfortable to me. I really need to get one. I haven't shot one in probably 8 years :(

Platoon Leaders Class. It's basically OCS spaced out over your college career, so when you graduate college, you're a commissioned officer.

"Ah-ah, I know what you're thinking, 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I've kind of lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum ? the most powerful handgun in the world ? and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

All the Dirty Harry movies have some great dialogue like that. Eastwood is a master at dry humor. :)
