I kinda know this girl and recently we've been talking and flirting a lot and a common friend told me that she's been asking about me. Well, I'm definitely very attracted to her and was planning to pursue this further when I see her next week. That is until last night. We were hanging out with some boys and ran into a friend of a friend who knows her and turns out she has a boyfriend.

Now, my previous experiences and common sense is telling me to stay away from her, yet I don't know if I will... Well, to clear my head a little I took my bike out and decided to ride around for a while (it was damn cold, btw). Well, what do you know - I run into her, although she didn't see me since I had a helmet. Anyways, I always considered myself mature enough to figure this situations by myself, but what do you know - here I am, starting a YAGT. Feel kidna stupid.

Stay away. You don't want to be "the guy".

True, there are people who founfd their wives that way, but if you have hesitations, well, there's a REASON you have hesitations.

You do realize that most guys don't refer to other males as "boys" unless they are under the age of 10?

This one is easy.

first make sure she has a bf. you can ask her.
if yes stay away
if no go for it.

I don't know what part of US you're from, but everybody here refers to their friends as "my boys"

Well, the conventional wisdom says you don't mow another guy's lawn. But then again, it seems like maybe she's interested. Eh, I dunno, its a tough call. Just ask her if she's got a bf.

ask her, if she flirts with you and shows interest ask her what her intentions are..."so i hear you have a bf" and see what she says... if shes not happy she with him that could be the reason she shows interest in you.

I think it's more an indication of age and/or economic class than geography.

the next time you talk to her, say "so i hear you have a bf"

she'll say "blah blah, yes i do, blah blah"

you: "that sucks"

her: "or really?"

you: "ya, it sucks because I think you're really awesome, and wanted to ask you out, but now I can't. oh well, sucks to be you"

her (to herself): wow, this guy is cool, i need to dump bozo so this guy will take me out...

;)

If it's just sex, knock the bottom out. She's the one seeking out "alternate sausage stuffing" (great term, MichaelD :D), it's not your responsibility to hold back unless you know the guy. Don't let yourself have feelings for a slut though, she'd cheat on you as well.

well duh! Of course you'll bump into her if you follow her around. When you stalk someone, it's not hard to "run" into that person.

Hahahah - I ran into her at the mall road, which is kinda weird because I was thinking about her at the moment.

Btw, some of the responses to this thread are hilarious... Stark, you had me until that last line...

If she isn't married, she's fair game. Go for it.

I don't know where you guys get the idea that BF/GF means anything in the game of life because it doesn't.

Well, it worked for me way back when. You're right though, you probably couldn't pull it off. :p
Wooing an unsatisfied girl you know is so much easier than hitting on a single chick you don't. All it takes is some confidence. :)
