I've got a S&W 357 and a Glock 9mm in my glovebox, I'm thinking of adding a trunk gun.

I'm leaning towards shotgun, but a rifle would allow me to reach out and touch someone.

Thoughts?
 
A car is not a good place to keep a gun. I occasionally have my backup .45 in my glovebox (when I'm driving semi-long distances), but I don't keep it there.

Cars are way too easily broken into so I wouldn't leave one in there long term.
 
Um.. Why do you want to keep a gun in your trunk? Seems a little bit... umm.. crazy. What, is it the backup in case someone locks you in the trunk and you can't get to the one in your glovebox? Or is it to make you feel like a man?

Edit: I just realized you have TWO guns in your glove box. Wtf? Planning on getting into a shootout?

if your intention when you go hunting is to obliterate your target, then yes. but if youre going hunting to actually HUNT game, then its horrible. the target tends to explode.
 
SKS. Effective, decent range, and most importantly CHEAP. If it gets stolen your out 150 vs the 800-1500 for a base M4 or a nicely loaded M4.

So what part of the country do you live in where the crime rate is so bad that you need a gun in your glovebox and your trunk? If the crime rate is really that bad, all your doing is arming a criminal when they steal your car. If you don't live in a bad area then you really need to seek counsoling.

I am all for the right to own guns, but you're a nut. If you are in a situation where the rifle in the trunk is needed, then you are one very dead person. If someone is shooting at you, you aren't going to be able to run out your car to get the rifle.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. It's idiots that ruin it for the rest of us. Not directly knocking anyone in particular here, or for you wanting to have a rifle/shotgun in the trunk which is illegal if loaded BTW.

edit: Illegal where I live anyway.

Is this a joke?

Why the hell would you need two guns in your glove compartment? I don't think even states with liberal concealed-carry laws allow you to carry a loaded long gun on your person, so you may be brought up on weapons charges if Johnny Law ends up looking in your trunk.

I'm sticking with the presumption this is a Skoorb-style joke - if it's not, you're a wacko.
