My wife bought me a nice present for my birthday. She knew I've been eying another 1911 for some time so she picked me up a S&W 1911. Sorry for the quality, I only had my iphone with me for taking pictures.

wife bought you a gun? nice!

Thats one thing i do plan on getting when im older and living on my own (never even held a gun) I have to go to the shooting range one time, although i hear its a bit pricey of a sport 😀

Last year she bought me a cheap AK-47 and a Walther P99. I love my wife.

Shooting can be a very expensive sport, but it can also be very cheap to get into. I'd start with a nice target pistol such as a Ruger Mark III (or any other .22 you find that you like). Sure the bullet doesn't seem as manly as a .44mag but you can buy 500 rounds for like $15 to $20. It's perfect for developing shooting habits and mechanics. I take my .22 out more then any other pistol besides my carry (Walther PPS 9mm).

and that's enough for home protection too? im not expecting an apocalypse but it'll make my ass a little less paranoid.

For home protection I always recommend a cheap shotgun or a revolver. But yes, I wouldn't want to be shot with a 22.

Nice snag. I'm unfortunately not much of a fan of the way S&W's quality has gone down the poopshoot as of recently, but any 1911 is a good 1911!

Your picture isn't loading for me though, so I can't look at it's beautiful self =(

is it an officers size or commander/government?

nice wifey. shes a keeper!

Picture link is fixed. I'm not too worried about S&W as the last 3 firearms I've bought have been made by them with zero issues. I'm going to take it out to the range tomorrow and put about 300 rounds though it to make sure it has no issues.
