YAGT: Am I overreacting? OLD THREAD

My gf is in Miami with a bunch of her girl friends for spring break and I'm stuck here in the Midwest, coz I gotta work. She just called me and told me that she and her friends went salsa dancing last night and they danced with a bunch of guys. She was also honest enough to tell me that she "freak danced" with one of the guys for just a little bit, but that she did not initiate it.

We have a solid year and a half relationship, and that just kinda shocked me for a second, since we are completely devoted to each other. She doesnt drink either, so its not like she was under the influence. I just feel slightly hurt for some reason. I mean I know its spring break and she should have some fun going to the clubs and stuff. When I have gone to clubs in the past without her, I have been hit on by girls, but I just brush it off, since I'd rather not deal with the guilt.

Am I overreacting? I feel just a bit hurt for some reason, maybe moreso, coz we are so close.

I wouldn't sweat it. It is hard for people to brush it off when being hit on by members of the opposite sex. The fact remains that she went home with just the girls that night, and she called you and was completely upfront about the situation. You can't run her life or force her to behave a certain way, so while she is on this trip you either need to accept the fact that she will be hit on, or you can get pissed off about it and ruin a potentially good thing. IMHO, what matters in the end is that she will come back to you.

Cool, thing is I sounded slightly disappointed on the phone (unintentional) and she is feelling a bit down, coz of my tone...I just couldnt hide it. Dammit and she was about to go snorkeling in the Florida Keys for the first time too, I hope I didnt ruin her mood.

I guess I'm just down and depressed coz I am surrounded by snow, hate my job, and lost a lil money in the stocks, and almost feel jealous that she is in balmy florida.

Whats wrong with me.

Dont worry about it. Tell her to have a good time, and focus on finding a new job/drunken sledding/beatin' it/video games/whatever. Have a little fun while she is gone. And make sure she understands that you want her to have a good time too.
