Are you a small person? It seems that if people get started with a 1911, they can't handle anything bigger or a different grip angle. If a person starts with something like a Glock, they can handle nearly anything. I think it's just a matter of stepping outside of what you are used to. They are the best selling handguns for a reason.

Go handle a Glock 19 and see what you think. It is arguably the best all around handgun ever made. The fullsizes are a little larger and I agree that they don't feel as nice. I so want a 10mm but the 20 just isn't comfortable for me.

I do have relatively small hands with fine fingers. When looking for my first 9mm (first gun ever) the dealer presented some Glocks and none felt good in my hands. Both the Springfield xDM and Ruger SR9 felt better....even the relatively large .45 double-stack of the FNP-45 felt better. I'm not sure what exactly the reason is, but I bought my first handgun based on feel and dealer recommendation and not any pre-conceived ideas and ended up with the Springfield xDM.

I'm not saying you did. I'm just throwing out a suggestion. If you have smaller hands (as I do), and they handed you a comparable full size Glock to the XDM, I can understand why it wasn't comfortable. Try a mid-size if you are interested.

How about the smith and wesson M&P? Feels much better than a block in my opinion. Speaking of blocks, the usp's are even worse.

Can you have suppressors in your state? Might be fun to take something down that route. One of these days I plan on buying a Beretta 92fs put a suppressor on it and maybe a slide lock for fun.

Any interest in sigs?

I can barely hold a USP with both hands well enough to shoot accurately, let alone one hand fire.

the think I dont like about hte m&p is they seem to change just enough, whereas the glocks change little enough my 1st gen is full of 3rd gen replacement parts(replacing 20 year old springs ETC)

? Unless I'm out of the loop, there has only been 1 generation of M&P's. At least of the semi-auto variety.

Yes I can have suppressors. I'd have to get a threaded barrel on whatever I want to suppress.

I do have a Beretta 92fs on my list as well. They seem to be very popular.

You need a revolver. I like 44 mag but in your case I would suggest .357 as you already have a rifle in .357.
