She means: Don't bother, I'll be done in 2 minutes. There's another unused machine if you're in a rush

You say: "Well ok, I'd still like to work in if you don't mind."
She hears: "I want this machine and I want it now"

she says: "Why don't you use that one?"
she means: "Wait your turn or go to the unused machine, asshole"

You say: "I prefer this one."
She hears: "Fvck off, I want this machine; now MOVE"

You say: "I'm sorry, you don't have to move."
She hears: nothing, she's not listening anymore

I agree 100%, the op was an a$$hole!

If you really want to get back at her, offer her manly weightlifting advice and feel her while she tries to lift :p

I never got that "work in" bullsh!t. I know that the machines are there for everyone, and we all should remember to share, but I find it hard to believe that the only way things work is if all the machines are fully utilized every microsecond. When doing a machine workout with shared machines, it seems only reasonable to expect you might have to adapt your routine a little bit. People should't hang around on machines talking on their phones or anything, but short breaks seem pretty reasonable to me. Maybe we aren't squeezing 100% effeciency out of the system, but what's the big deal?

Seriously, what's with all this gym rage? You people need to calm down.

Speaking of gym rage, the only thing that used to bother me at the gym was when some guy would ask to work in and his idea of a set ended up being 300 reps at 10 lbs each. So awsome, I break my stride and get a crummy workout cause I was trying to be a nice guy. But I solved that problem pretty easy :)

Whenever you can, try to be the spotter during your break.

A. It works other muscles, to a degree.
B. You can hurry/slow them down based on your needs
C. You're a constant reminder that they should start to finish up.

You're a bitch dude, she had 1 set left, she woulda been there another 30 seconds. Now granted, if someone asks me how many sets I have left, I will volunteer to let them work in, but still, in this case, you're an asshole.

B & C are retarded. Everyone lifts at their own pace. I take the proper rest time between my sets. I'll let you work in with me, but if you want to rush me, don't bother, it won't happen. If anything I'll go slower.

is she had 1 more set i would leave her alone. I HATE people who "work in" because it is a hassle to change the weight around and back again, then some people won't even put your weight back on and you have to do it!!!!!! and who knows how long you or someone else is going to take. What would normally be a set time between sets (say 2 mins?) may become 5 depending on how long you take!!
nope nope you wait!

I smell a parody thread where someone posts as the girl.
I also smell that it won't be funny at all.

I thought most gym rules required you let others work in.

Besides that though, I always thought that allowing someone to work in was just part of being courteous, as well as common gym etiquette. If you're going to rest more than 30 seconds, you might as well let someone else work in - assuming that person's not doing a set of 100 super slow reps. A set usually takes around 30 seconds, and most people tend to overestimate the amount of rest time unless they are timing themselves. So letting someone work in probably won't affect your workout. I'm not really sure what the big deal is... tons of people have training partners that work in without issue.

Anyways, if you don't want people working in with you, just go do squats, deadlift, overhead press, dips, and chins.

I agree.. I usually take 1-2 minutes for rest, if not longer sometimes..
It takes around 3 minutes for your lactic acid to subside.
Whenever someone asks me how many sets I have left, I offer to let them work in with me.

People are just just scared of other people or plain greedy.

Why does it matter if your not using the machine at this moment in time to let someone else use it?!

I sure as hell don't care if someone else is using if it I'm resting up.

I'm glad I go to a gym with no people like this!

It means can they share with you (use the equipment while you're resting or flexing).

Anyways, to the OP, i think you were more rude. She only had one more set, you couldn't wait for a min or two? I don't mind sharing the equipment, but if i just did 4 sets and only had one more to do, and you were to asked, i would say i only had one too. And if you were insistent like that, i would have had to start my sets all over again.
