YAFT(Yet Another Fat Thread)Going on Nutrisystem

Simply put I carry too much fat, I'm getting married in October, and I don't want to have a heart attack by the time I'm 35... thus I think I'll give this a shot...

My guess is they'll put me on about 2000-2500 calories a day...

I'm 6'5" 350lbs... understand I'm a TON of muscle, if I weighed 270lbs I'd likely have a 6 pack... realistically I'd like to get down to about 290...

Opinions...

Yelling at me and calling me a fatass are fine and welcome, it doesnt phase me a bit.

Can you not just go to the gym and hire a PT? Might be cheaper, and you'll get buff instead of just less flabby...

Shouldn't be too hard. You're built like a damn viking.

Well I'm going to hit the gym regardless..... but Nutrisystem isnt all that expensive... for 2 people we're talking 600 a month... if I count how much I go out to eat and pay in food regularly... it seems about the same...

Oh... Does Nutrisystem give you the food? That's not a bad deal then...

Noone's heard of Nutrisystem?

That is what they put all the fatties on in Celebrity Fit club on VH1 (uh, I just watch a bit while surfing channels, yeah, thats it 😛 ). Seems to work for them when they stick to it. It don't see anything that could be wrong with it, there is no voodoo about, they just put you on a balanced diet and limit your caloric intake.

There's no way they're going to put you on 2500 calories. I would guess closer to 1500, if that.

There's no way 1500 calories would be healthy for a 6'5" 350lb male...

If you were to have a 6 pack at 270lbs you'd likely need ~ 3000-3500 calories just to sustain yourself.

Keep on it and be consistent. Work hard and aim for the AVERAGE weight loss!

My mate dropped 40lbs in 6 months. He ate better and at times it was still p!ss poor and train hard and consistently

I'd seriously suggest looking at pictures of the program before you do it. Breakfast is 1 pack of instant oatmeal (think generic, not Quaker), or an off brand Nutrigrain bar. Lunch is one of those dehydrated meals that you add some water to. A snack is a pack of airline goldfish mix. You'll eat a weeks worth of breakfast just to feel satisfied the first day.

You're better off just not buying junk food and loading up on veggies. Cut out the sauces, butter, and oil when cooking. Being 350 you'll drop weight a heck of a lot faster than most other people trying to lose weight around here.

You're better off spending the money on a good elliptical machine. I lost 35 pounds on one. At your size it'll be easier on your joints while being something you can do for a long time without wanting to die.

this type of thinking is not going to get you to loose weight. the body can take very little food and still be very functional. (also you have plenty of reserves) you might feel a little weak, but that should only be the first week or so.

I would know cuz i am 5'11 and 240lbs. that's fairly round. last time i went on a serious diet (3 months long) i went all the way down to 214 stayed there for about 3 months. and bounced to 240 in 1 month. haha.

so now i am trying to change the way i eat, and the way i percieve food. food is just something that keeps you alive and healthy. it should not be a passtime, and it should not be primary source of joy. well that's what i am trying to work on.

It's easy to lose weight in the summer. Do outdoor activities. Walk to the store if you can instead of driving. Fruit and vegetables are plentiful and excellent, drink a lot of water.

Yeah, you'll probably want quite a few calories like Koing says. If you take in to few you'll just start to lose a lot of muscle. $600 sounds like a lot of money to me, I bet you could do better just buying some healthier foods and cutting back on the bad stuff. There's a lot of good info around on setting up a decent diet that won't have you starving all day while still being able to lose weight.

i was thinkig more like ~4000 calories to maintain it.

I dropped 70lbs in about 6 months, but lost the first 40 in about 3. YOu can definatly do it. I ate lean cusine for lunch, yougart for breakfast, and lean protein and salad for dinner. That and excercise and it came off quick.

GOod luck.
