YAFR (Fedex Rant)

And they blow it.

A vendor shipped conference equipment yesterday with overnight service. It was supposed to be delivered by 3 pm today. As you can guess - they have no idea where the package is.

Status shows it left LA and arrived into Oakland. Then left Okaland. And poof - magic dust - it disappeared.

They ran a trace, opened an inquiry... No calls back. Called them back again - and now they are saying the package is still in LA. What? what? what?

Arghghghgh. Just about the only time I needed a package to be delivered on time - and they blow it.

Mothereffing luck.

all carriers will lose a package...it's part of logistics. No one that really travels has never had a bag mishap really...you have to plan ahead.

That said FedEx has been the best at paying claims and least likely to have shipping damage for me.

I have probably shipped close or in 6 figures of packages in my lifetime.

USPS - great, but expensive for more than letter sized items...when you do have a problem though it can take months for it to be paid out.
UPS - usually packages arrive damaged if shipped ground; fairly common other ways...claims are nearly impossible most of the time. These guys will leave your packages in the rain while other carriers will bag them on rainy days.
FedEx - not much damage ever, when lost or damaged claims are paid quickly as insured.
DHL - too new to tell but cheap and packages arrive in great shape.
BAX - never a problem

At least they don't claim it was delivered like the iphone i ordered last week. Tracking says delivered but I was here all day and they never came =/

DHL lost 2 pallets from spain. the tracking was hilarious... it came in port in NY, went to ohio, then chicago, then detroit, then chicago, then green bay, then back to ohio, and finally to Cuba city wisconson ( very near de buque Iowa). it took it 2 months to get from spain to wisconson. at one point they no longer knew where it was and just kept telling us the never got it off the boat, after it had already been scanned in 2 or 3 different locations.

the best part is when you get a signature-required package door tag when you're fully expecting it to be left @ the door. Right before a 3-day weekend. GG SHPPER

They found it. Apparently, they forgot to load 2 crates worth of boxes onto a truck going from Oakland hub to San Jose hub.
They can deliver Sat (thanks, but no one is going to be there), so I'll be picking it myself Monday morning as soon as they open the hub.
