Ok, here is the situation:

I'm currently 3rd in my league (2-2 record) and my weakest spot seems to be my receiving core.

Here is who I currently have:

Starting WR: Torry Holt RAMS
Starting WR: Javon Walker Broncs

Starting RB/WR spot: Wes Welker PATS

Bench: Reggie Brown IGGLES

So Holt has been killing me so far this season, and with Frerotte coming in, I'm not sure that will change. Walker looks as if he will be out with an injury. Welker has been decent, for where I got him and Brown has done nothing, since the Eagles have really done nothing (aside from week 3).

On Waivers the following guys are available:

Andre Davis HOU
Dwayne Bowe KC
Patrick Crayton DAL
Bobby Engram SEA
Michael Jenkins ATL
Nate Burleson SEA
James Jones GB

So, I think my best option is to pick up one of the guys on waivers, drop Brown, move Walker and Holt to the benCh for this week (hoping they pick things up again in a few weeks), move Walker and the new waiver pick-up to starting WR and move Selvin Young (newly acquired) to the RB/WR slot.

Anyone have any thoughts? Who should I pick up?

Thanks very much for your help. :)

Andre Davis HOU
Dwayne Bowe KC
Patrick Crayton DAL

All very good options. Bowe doesn't have a great matchup, but he's talented enough to have a big game against anybody. Andre Davis should havea good week and Crayton sits on the other side of TO, so not only is he talented, but he frequently draws worse coverage and, with the prolific Cowboy offense, he should be a really, really good #3 option.

edit: short-term I'd probably grab Davis, but long-term I'd look to Bowe to continue a monster season.

Thanks guys! Do you think Holt is even worth holding onto at this point?

First thing that comes to my mind is Andre Davis...he's their number one guy with Johnson out and they are playing a terrible Miami team this week.

Edit: Which reminds me, in my league a guy dropped Houston's D and added Detroit's, right before Houston is about to play said terrible Miami team. This is about the dumbest FF move I have ever seen in my life. And yes, I did snatch them up quickly to replace my Indy defense this week, even though I think Indy will do well.

I'd go with Davis for first pic, then Crayton. You must have a pretty shallow league

I picked up Engram to fill out a bye spot last two weeks.

Holt is killing me too, but luckily I got Houshmanzadeh as my second drafted WR and also have Gates--pretty much a WR :)

I think the OP pretty much needs to pick up Bowe, he'll be kicking himself otherwise.

The kid has had a monster start to the season. He's a number 1 receiver on a team with a guy who has shown he can get the ball to him on a consistent basis. Davis, Crayton, Engram aren't that and, while I think Davis is the best playre to start next week, and Crayton is also an excellent acquisition, the long-run potential for Bowe is much greater than the others.

So Bowe seems to be the long-term solution. What about Holt? Keep/drop?

I mean that's just my opinion, guys like Deeko know a lot more about FF than I do.

As for Holt, some analysts are saying he might acutally have a big week. He's the best WR on the team, they can't do anything right at the moment, so why not throw him the ball a lot? I don't know where I stand on that analysis. As much as I'd like to see him have a big week, I think his chances aren't good.

Try to trade Holt. If people aren't paying real close attention they may give you something for Holt.

pick up selvin young for your slot. why use a wr for a slot when you can get an rb who gets more touches? other than that, follow what everyone else has said and get bowe.
hang onto holt, he's not doing bad and can only get better. depite the problems he's still getting targetted and decent yardage. rams can only get better, there isnt much worse they can do.

I got lucky and got Young as soon as the Henry news broke, but I need to use him in my RB slot this week as the Vikings are on a bye.

I just picked up Bowe and am going to send out feelers on Holt, just to see if I can get something of value, but will keep him in my WR slot for now.

Tanks to everyone for the advice!

KT

PS: Someone should start a general FF thread so we can just ask questions, brag, or complain all in one place. :D

Bowe is still on your waiver wire? Damn he was a late round draft pick in my league.
