YAFFT: Cut Grossman or Favre

Have Hasselbeck on IR. Our league rules state that when a player is listed as anything other that "OUT" per Sportsline.com, that you have to take the player off IR. And in doing so, you must cut the player you used as a replacement or pay $5 to keep him and let another player go.

So, I acquired Grossman when I put Matt on IR. Now I have to either cut Grossman or pay $5 to keep him, while dropping Favre. I expect Hasselbeck to be out no less than this weekend and next. The $5 isn't an issue. I just need the best option at QB for the next couple weeks.

Matchups:

Week 10: Grossman at injury depleted Giants
Week 11: Grossman at NYJ

Week 10: Favre at Minnesota
Week 11: Farve vs. NE

Thoughts greatly appreciated because I have less than one hour to make a decision.

man it really depends on what Grossman shows up. if he is "on" that day he is great. if not..well expect 6 interceptions.

guess we will find out tonight which one shows up. If he plays like he has lately the bears do not have a chance. while they have a great defence you cant turn the ball over 6 times and expect a win.

That's the ONLY reason why I'm stressing this decision. With the exception of two games, Grossman has been huge. Favre is consistent but rarely puts up huge fantasy numbers. Grossman has the two better matchups but not knowing which Grossman will show up has me nervous about starting him.

yeah he will.

the Bears have stuck with him for 4 years. 3 of them with him on the sidelines with broken bones.

they are not going to toss him aside over playing bad. they have to much invested in him.

hell im just impressed he is still healthy.

tough choice, but the better bet is Grossman. Yeah the guy has had some stinker games recently but do you really see Favre lighting it up against Minnesota and NE?

No, he will sit last few weeks of the season, like P. Manning.

They benched him in the niners game, its obvious his health is more important then experience. Just like the niners game, when they blow out the NFC north, they will bench him to save him for the playoffs.

Well, I opted to go with Favre.

Reason being is this: My team is very solid and I haven't lost since week 1 (by one point). I am sound enough at the rest of my positions that I don't need a QB that is gonna win a game for me. I just need one who's not gonna lose one for me. Favre isn't gonna put up 25+ fantasy points in the next couple weeks but odds are he's not gonna have negative points like Grossman is capable of. I'm just opting to play conservative and rely on my other strengths. Grossman is just too damn inconsistent to depend on but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a huge night. I just had to go with the guy who is gonna not screw up bad enough to cost me a game.
