I've found some headphones on eBay that retail for ~$60 CAD currently holding at $12. The auction ends tomorrow at 11PM and the last bid was on the 31st. Is it usual for people on eBay to start bidding like crazy at the last minute?

I've never purchased anything off eBay before, so I'm not really sure how people are there.

Yup, its done all the time, get ready to have the price go up by very small increments in the last 5 minutes.

bid the most you're willing to pay and let proxy bidding do the rest.

Not entirely true. Bid the amount of $$ you're willing to pay. If it's worth more to someone, then you didn't really lose out.

There is software that snipes in 1c increments out there. So I usually make my max bid like $xx.34 or something. Seems to help avoid being beaten by a penny.
