YAET: Won item on eBay Feb. 21st

Steve

Lifer
Not sure what to do next. I won an item on Feb. 21st and it still hasn't come to my door. I paid through Paypal. Anyhow I emailed the seller (using the "Contact Member" button) earlier this week (Monday, I think) and have not heard back. His last feedbacks are dated Feb. 23rd and 24th, so since he's been apparently inactive since then I wonder if something's happened to him?

The other thing I'm afraid of is that it may have arrived and been taken from my front step. Deliveries are usually set down wedged between the screen door and the front door. When I got home from work last Friday the screen door was open as if something had been there, but when I got up the steps there was only the mailbox full of mail. There have been no notices of delivery attempts.

What's the next step in getting this resolved? More info on request, will be sent via PM.

UPDATE: I filed with SquareTrade before last week. Today I got a response from him:

"I have shipped out the item. I do admit that I was tardy and did not ship out the item b/c I was too emcompassed with work. I have included in the package a refund for shipping costs. I apologize for the inconvenience."

I'm just glad I'm going to be getting what I paid for, plus my $5 for shipping back. I think this calls for Neutral feedback, just because I'm such a nice guy. What do you think?

UPDATE #2: It arrived today, which might seem long but the postage does say 3/21. And he included a cash refund of the shipping fee ($5) and the burner works. I've left him neutral.

Afraid not. Paid via Paypal with direct transfer from my bank account, which is backed up by my BankOne/Visa ATM/debit card.

I did just request his contact info from eBay though.

Just got his information and tried his number. Doesn't work. Spoke to Directory Assistance in his area and an operator but they weren't much help. Number appears to be disconnected, or else private or even a cell number. There were several listings with his last name, but as it sounds like a fairly common name I decided not to try each one.

I'd get on the ball and get this figured out quick. Contact Ebay though Square Trade now, they'll try and make contact with him. If he's legit he'll get back to Ebay,if its a scam he'll never reply. Try and get your money back through Pay Pal,just because the took the money out of your account doesn't mean he's been paid. Third if you do get screwed fill out this form:

I gotta tell you Ebay is really turning into a piece of work for idiots wanting to commit fraud. There are several, myself included that got scammed by a guy selling PS2's. He took about 2K from all of us and never sent a thing. Ebay also has a supposed "payback" up to $150.00 for people who were scammed--yeah right. We filed with them over six weeks ago and got NOTHING.

Ebay used to not let anyone without at least 5-10 positive feedbacks sell ANYTHING. Now you can sell with 0 feedbacks--its all about profits over at Ebay, screw the buyer.

New rules in my book IF I ever buy on Ebay again. Never buy from anyone with less that 10-20 positive feedbacks. NEVER buy anything where all they'll accept is a cashiers check, thats the best way to commit fraud on Ebay going. Good luck to you......

I'm filing my case with Square Trade right now, and I'm at the point where I decide if I want a mediator. Is it worth it?

tm37 - the item is a SCSI Yamaha CD burner, won for $40 shipped.

EDIT: Mediator's fee = $20

I thought there was an item not received dispute process somewhere in paypal or ebay. The way I recalled it working was you file a case saying you never received the item. They contact the seller. If the seller ignores them or does not have tracking for the item and cannot prove it was sent, then you get a refund.

See here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/tp/inr-snad-process.html

Don't pay money through squaretrade.

Dispute the charge via paypal. I'm not sure if you can do anything with your bank..in the future, use a CC. It saved me $155 so far.. 🙂

You know what's bad? I sent out a power supply for some work last July. I got it back in January. It blew up when I plugged it in. Haven't heard back from the guy yet.

on paypal u can file for dispute
for no receiving an item
high chances that they will refund your money

but not always 100%

Only if he hasn't removed the funds from paypal already.
