All this week, I have been on ebay looking for a new bowling ball. I saw one I liked, and put in a bid for 95 bucks, and its at 93 right now. The auction ends in 2.5 hours 🙁 Well I found another seller that had EXACTLY the ball I wanted, and I emailed the seller, and he said that the ball I wanted is coming in tomorrow. So am I basically screwed if someone else doesnt outbid me? Theres no way to retract the bid if its more than an hour? I usualy never do this, but I think I might get stuck.. any ideas on what to do?

Update:
Whooo hoooooo I would have never thought I would say this, but I am so glad I got sniped. Now I can order the other, much better ball and hopefully have it something mid next week... 😛 😛 😛

buy the ball you bid on. Read the TOS on ebay, perhaps there's a loophole or time of recission. But, I think yer stuck. You can always resell it or use it as a spare.

pun? 🙂

At 95 bucks its STILL a good deal for a 230 MSRP ball, but after reading ALOT of reviews, the other ball hasnt even really come out yet, and is nearly impossible to get. It better go up 2 STINKING dollars within the next 2 hours!

how much is shipping on a bowling ball would be??

For a 14lb ball, only 17 bucks 😛 I decided to go the new Storm Factor XXX, which no one will have instock till about the end of the month, luckly I found a seller on ebay that is selling it for a great price, and will have it shiped out tomorrow from OH instead of Florida. The orginal ball I started bidding on was a Brunswick Inferno, which indeed is a great ball, but just no as agressive as the XXX.

I just got a new ball to replace my oil soaked columbia 300 RR ball. Now I have the nifty particle impregnated coverstock with RR backend Raging Inferno. I was so happy. Until I threw it a few times and wondered where the hell my hook went. I got the most agressive and softest ball alowed by the rules, and I still power right though the break. If I were not just playing for fun I would try to find a new columbia 300 somewhere.

nice!

what is ur average?? i used to be an avid bowler.. I used the 13lb brunswick red alert.. and the quantum (forgot which brand)

My average isnt the greatest right now, its about a 150. I have never used a "real" ball before, but done fairly decent even with the really crappy lane balls. I have been practing a hook shot with my friends 16lb Eraser, but its just too heavy and too big of a span. We are taking beginneers bowling in college 😛 and he bowled a 279 about a week ago. Right now I am bowling about 3 times a week or so, and with the right ball, and the enough pratice, I think I can get my average into the 180-200 range. The reason I went with the XXX is that if I am going to go all out with something like this, I might as well not cheap out and get a ball thats going to suit my needs.

The way to get your average up is not getting strikes, but picking up spares. Go early one day to the alley, and see if they will do a few games of spares for ya. You may have totip the counter to get a mechanic back there for ya, but it is the best way to learn control.

or u can set it manually if they have the newer lanes (brunswick lanes for example)

what beginners should focus on is NOT to hook the ball... if you use a hook ball it will hook by itselft

you should focus on a straight release of ur arm, dont try to hook it like crazy...

Yeah thats not a problem now, because my buddy got a job there working the front desk. I am acuatly pretty darn good at picking up spares, I believe I picked up about 6 in my last good game. I have some slight control problems (mainly pulling the ball to the left, I am left handed btw). I hear ya about how huge the spares are. In my class we usualy spend a good 30-1hour on just the 7 and the 10 pin. It seems like most of my spares I have been missing are easy spares like a single 6 spin, but its amazing how much better I have gotten in just the past 3 or 4 weeks because of this class and pratice. My friend is amazing though, he had a 279,235 and a 225 last time 😛, but hes been bowling competively since he was like 8.
