YAET (Ebay) What would you give this guy for a feedback?

See Auction Here - Ebay

He says "Great shape, except there are several small holes in the speaker cloth, looks like somebody's kid stuck the point of a pencil in it. They are barely noticable and do not affect the amps functioning in any way."

REALITY is 1) the holes are from a pencil it's where the large white plastic Marshall logo should be - it is possible he didn't know the logo should be there, and in the picture there is no logo on it, it still doesn't mention it in the auction, I guess I could have looked closer? and 2) the cooling fan is very loud like the bearings are out (small fan like the size of a computer case cooling fan) - it is possible he didn't know what it was supposed to sound like but if you turned on the amp, you had to know something was going on with the fan noise.

Misrepresentation of material fact = fraud. They have a program for resolution of this sort of stuff - I think it is called 'safe harbor' or something along those lines.

I'd give him a positive. I always expect used stuff I get on Ebay to be crappier than I think when I read the description. It's just too hard to convey all the details, and the person writing the description may not be an knowledgeable enough to know what is broken and what's not. It seems like you're nitpicking over the holes and the seller probably didn't realize the cooling fan was screwy (or perhaps it was damaged in shipping?) and that seems like an easy thing to fix.

sounds like he tried his best to tell the truth, he may not be an expert about these amps

feedback = positive

Whenever purchasing used stuff, the terms 'great shape' and 'like new' etc.. are a matter of opinion. On eBay the onus is on the seller to ask any and all questions before placing a bid.

Have you emailed the seller and expressed your dissatifaction? He might give you some cash back. But failing that, he did not lie, nor misrepresent the item you bought.

🙂

Thanks for replies and voting everyone, it's why I love ATOT.

I will email him with the following:
I did in fact receive the amp. Sorry for the late response, I was gone on Vacation for the past 2+ weeks. I figured out what the holes were. They aren't pencil holes, it is where the white plastic "Marshall" logo used to actually be on the front of the amp. I have a friend with an AVT50 and the logo fits into those holes. It's funny I didn't even notice on the picture. The other thing (which could have been from shipping?) is that the cooling fan on the circuit board (about 2 inches square) is very noisy like the bearing is out in the fan. I should be able to replace it if I can figure out the specs of it. In all, although there are a few small problems, it is of course a used amp and not expected to be perfect, plus I feel you were honest about everything and had great communication and helped with the extra footswitch. I will leave a positive feedback tonight at the latest.
