I was buying a camera from Ebay yesterday. I found the camera I liked and went back to purchase it. After I did so with Buy it Now and payed with paypal I realized that this was the exact same camera/kit I had been looking at before, for almost the exact same price, from the same seller (off by 4 cents) except that this one was refurbished, not new like the other one.

I emailed the seller to see if it could be cancelled so I could order the new one or be sent the new version, but no response yet. Any suggestions? This sucks, I am normally super careful on ebay but the damn listing was off by one word and 4 cents. Are sellers normally receptive to helping with this kind of situation and how should I go about it?

Cliffs:
Found new camera on ebay.
Went back to purchase what I thought was same camera.
Camera I bought is refurbished.
Damnit.

Offer to pay him whatever he would/will be out of pocket to resell it.

if you give him an extra dollar + listing fee, he'll usually say yes since he's getting something out of it still

I've done this before (bought something before realizing that it wasn't exactly what I wanted. Offer to let the seller keep the listing fees and other fees and leave positive feedback, and the person should hopefully agree.

Yeah, I figure since I am still buying a camera at the same price from them, they should be cool with it. Its one of those jewish-owned brooklyn camera places so they are shut down today. Hopefully, will hear something back on sunday or monday.

Uhhhhh, good luck!
A LOT of shady camera places online & they all seem to be located in Brooklyn. Usually, if you have the address & use street view on google, you discover that the store front isn't even a store.

there are all kinds of warnings about making sure you know what you are bidding on. once you click the button to buy you are committed to buying that item. the seller could be nice and let you have the other one but he does not have too

What sort of camera? I have heard Canon DSLR refurbs are so good it's hard to tell they're not brand new. So even if you get the refurb it could be pretty nice anyway. Of course shutters are replaced during refurb so you can expect the same amount of usage out of it.
