YAE(xcercise)T: My Lunges are weak on the right side?

JEDI

Lifer
Lunge

When i lunge to the left, it's solid and balanced. when i lunge to the right, my right foot doesnt go as far. as a result, my knee goes over the right toes, which is BAD.

When i try to force my right foot to go further, i'm off balanced.

What's causing this? And is more practice the only way to make my lunge to the right solid and balanced?

If you need practice to maintain balance something isn't right, that should be a natural response.

Maybe one foot is slightly longer than the other?

Otherwise it could be a neurological rather than physiological problem, perhaps bad proprioceptive feedback. Head trauma from a frontal hit has been known to damage the cerebellum, if you can remember such an event. Then there's the sciatic nerve, may be constricted by a tumor or some other massy defect.

Or maybe you just have a bad shoe. So many possibilities.

You just told this kid he cant lunge to the left bc he has a tumor lol.

Lunges are a tough one bro, mainly bc you use your entire body. Where do you seem to lose balance? Do it slow and try to pinpoint right where you lose your positioning. Try and remember the the muscles that you are using at the time and see if you can come up with anything.

Everyone's got a tumor somewhere. Some are just less fortunate and it impairs their motor function.

My guess is that you probably have a really tight hip flexor, and those can be a bitch to stretch out if you don't know how to do it properly. Lunges aren't really a full-body exercise and concentrate mainly on your core, quads, hamstrings, and gluts. I would try lunging without weight, thoroughly stretching your lower body and then doing it with the weight.
