Ok, my friend has his mind set on a Canon Powershot A200 for around $300. The battery costs $25 and is not a regular NiHm or AA, but a weird lookin rectanglar shaped battery. I tell him there are better cameras out there for around that price yet he's set on getting this one. I tell him that the price of the battery may cost him more in the long run.

So, here's my question: What's a good digital camera around the $300 2.0 Megapixel range?

**EDIT**
Forgot to add that it's gotta be a very compact, small camera.

if he's willing to pay a little more (375), he can get the minolta f100 from buydig.com. 4 mp, THE best compact digital camera out there.

Boi's gonna agree with me on this one, but I just got a Fuji 2600z and it's a sweet basic digital camera, it's 2.0 megapixels and retails for about 250 - 200 and comes with a 16 mb smart media. I like :)

It's small but it's kind of got girth, it's got a plastic body so the feel is a bit light.

If it's gotta be compact then your choices are limited. I like my 4 mpixel Olympus D-40. Problem is it's not cheap. Cheapest shady store price is $380 and reliable store price is $450.
