I know these two are pretty similar cars but which one would you pick? Mazda has more room but it seems that the Tc is slightly more powerful.

I'm already planning on getting the Mazda 3 but anyone got some convincing arguments on why not?

There is no convincing argument - the Mazda 3 is a better car in every way (well - except for Toyota Reliability). I would choose the 3 without hesitation ;)

are you kidding? everything you said is way more than just truth, its frickin written in stone.

for most ppl there is NO comparison.

4 doors vs 2

leg room
nice interior
nicer vehicle
etc.

So mazda 3 interior > tC interior? I've been inside a tC but not a Mazda's yet. From the pics they look pretty similar. But I do agree that 4 doors is more practical than a 2 door.

Get a Mazda, to many Scions on the road. The first year I had my Scion TC in 2004, I saw like 1 or 2 on the road besides mine, now I see a lot more. I like having a car that few people drive.

Dude - everything in the Mazda puts the tC to shame. THe interior build quality is on another level compared to the tC. The engine is silky smooth, with hardly any sound. Handling is magnificent for a car in it's class, steering feel is perfect. The shifter rocks - perfect uptake, and fell. All around it's just a much better car.

Ive seen, researched, driven both. I wouldnt give the TC much of an edge in power

Scion TC

Curb Weight: 2905 lbs.
Base Number of Cylinders: 4 Base Engine Size: 2.4 liters
Base Engine Type: Inline 4 Horsepower: 160 hp
Max Horsepower: 6000 rpm Torque: 163 ft-lbs.

vs

Mazda 3 5 door

Curb Weight: 2826 lbs.
Base Number of Cylinders: 4 Base Engine Size: 2.3 liters
Base Engine Type: Inline 4 Horsepower: 160 hp
Max Horsepower: 6500 rpm Torque: 150 ft-lbs.

Mazda 3 has same horsepower, 13 less torque, but 79 less pounds....

I would definitely get the Mazda 3, and I did :p

Fixed unfortunately. I live in Ca and there's some stupid law that made Mazda lower the power and torque in some of their cars in certain states. Some kind of Ezp..something something. Pretty lame imo.

Cost more than a TC?

I bought mine with ABS moonroof, 6cd , etc, for $16.7k after TTL, when I was shopping for Scion TC, I couldnt get them to negotiate down nearly that far. (this was over a year ago)

As was mentioned above, the finish and quality of the Mazda is better than the TC, everyone who has driven it comments on the clutch and how easy it is to drive. When I drive my tiburon I feel like the clutch is crap compared to the mazda.

that sucks, at least it isnt significant, 7 hp and 1 ft lb of torque, just put in an CAI and you will be back up there :p

16.7k? Did you get the S package? I check the website for our local Mazda dealer and they had a Mazda 3 5 Door S package with an MSRP of $18,800. 06 Mazda btw. Im new to car shopping deal since I'm only 18 so I'm guessing one could drop that price depending on how good they are at haggling.
