Sentra doesn't compare as its in a different class. Wouldn't touch a Jetta of that vintage. The Accord would be fine if it doesn't have tranny issues.

I would go for the Accord, if the test drive suits you well. Lower insurance costs, lower maintenance costs, and typically more reliable than the other 2. The Sentra SER isn't worth the extra $$$, if its an automatic.

From those 3, the VW.

Edit: Jettas are also one of the cheapest cars to insure, while the number of rice-boys crashing their Civics/Accords makes them significantly worse.

The Jetta is tempting because it's good looking and has a lot of pop, but it's reliability could be an issue.

The Sentra is the least expensive but it should be quick with the 2.5l and it has the lowest mileage.

The Accord is nice but it's the oldest and has the highest mileage but it is a Honda....

Nice. The RL is branded an old-man car but on the bright side you can be assured it was likely driven by one:)

here's my take on those cars

1) sentra se-r: it's basically a smaller altima... with torque steer and less room. sure it looks pretty good, but it's a sentra with an altima engine.
2) jetta: VW's are expensive to repair. however i'd say this is the best of the bunch
3) accord: it's last gen's accord. it's not that powerful on today's standard. not to mention that car is waaaaaay over-priced.

i'd look for a 00'-04' maxima. probably 00'-02' with a budget of under $14k.
