Part two is your cars, I am writing this memo because I was driving a 2004 Acura TL, and I was told by the Oregon State Police that if I was in any other car I would have been killed. After I was flown to the hospital I was informed that due to the Air Bags and all of the safety features of the Acura are the reasons I survived.

Oregon State Police must really know their cars!

Why do people say crap like that? I've heard it before and it's such poppycock. It's not like the cops are wreck mavens and know that truly any other car would have resulted in his death. Would he have truly fared worse in a Camry or a Maxima? I suppose they say it to make the person feel better, since it's a terrible situation to be in.

EDIT: Ha, I see Zim had the same impression.

I've never heard of Acura being a ridiculously safe car to drive. Not saying it's unsafe but when people talk about the forefront of driver and passenger safety I've always heard Volvo being mentioned.

Big freakin deal. That's nothing. A good friend of the family owns a tow trucking company here in Oregon. They have pictures hanging up in their lobby of a camaro that was ripped in half by a semi tractor-trailer, an accident that they responded to and still, to this day, have the pieces of the car on their lot on display. The accident was so bad that, even from more than half a dozen high quality photographs during the day, you can't even tell what color the car is. The car is incredibly mangled, twisted, compacted, and ripped in half. The driver was standing next to one of the pieces of his car when emergency vehicles arrived and he walked away without a scratch.

That being said, I've been to Ron Tonkin dealerships and they actually are pretty good. I like Lincoln City, too; great vacation spot.

or honda has better saftey features than a camry or maxima. ive known people that have had accidents in both of those cars, and probably at much lower speeds than this dude in the acura, and they were injuredy, badly.

i believe that the roof looking like it does is partially due to the jaws of life opening up the roof like a can of sardines.

but the statements made about dieing in any other car are bullsh;t all the way.

Probably that must be part of the reason the car looks so bad...
