This is the most convoluted, and nonsensical YACT ever made.
First you say you want something around 15 grand, and then you put up Diesel trucks that cost nearly 40k$ up as options. So which is it??
Honestly, if your debating between this many cars/trucks, you have some serious issues. Maybe you should try driving all of them, and not just posting on this forum to see what others think. There are entirely too many variables that relate to your life, lifestyle, insurance, so on and so on and so on.

Price. The similar equipped GM trucks are about $4000 more than the dodge/ford counterparts.
I was thinking about an 'SUV'....but a truck could do that and more. I really would like to get say, a toyota tacoma, but, for the price of a 4x4 crewcab tacoma, you could get a full size truck.

Look at an Avalanche then. Drop the cladding option if it isn't your bag. $ for $, they can't be touched. Heavy rebates and deals on them almost all the time.
