First you say you want something around 15 grand, and then you put up Diesel trucks that cost nearly 40k$ up as options. So which is it??

Honestly, if your debating between this many cars/trucks, you have some serious issues. Maybe you should try driving all of them, and not just posting on this forum to see what others think. There are entirely too many variables that relate to your life, lifestyle, insurance, so on and so on and so on.

umm...did you not read my op? I stated that, if i were to get a car soley for myself, the most i'd want really to spend would be 15k. If my 'rents wanted to rid of the van and replace it with something (a truck), they'd be paying for some of it as well as I, so, the price of a truck could be higher than the cost of the car.

Basically, a truck or a car. I know a truck would be more practical, but a car, like the honda civic, would be more economical, but then we'd (the family) still need something to replace the van's function, which is mainly to haul stuff and bigger item that wont fit in a car.

Price. The similar equipped GM trucks are about $4000 more than the dodge/ford counterparts.

I was thinking about an 'SUV'....but a truck could do that and more. I really would like to get say, a toyota tacoma, but, for the price of a 4x4 crewcab tacoma, you could get a full size truck.

Look at an Avalanche then. Drop the cladding option if it isn't your bag. $ for $, they can't be touched. Heavy rebates and deals on them almost all the time.

oh, and poll

I think thats stupid, civics are overpriced econoboxes.. I'd never buy one new.

Look at an RSX.. they look nice and they have a little bit of punch under the hood. Some of the 02s can be found for 14k and are only 2 or 3 years old.

None of those trucks (save the Ridgeline, which is a minivan chassis) is a practical replacement for a minivan. No third row seat, worse mileage, etc. And the Wrangler Unlimited is a terrible choice. While it does have a little more legroom in the back seat than the regular Wrangler, all that means is that the rear seats can now fit dwarfs instead of only legless dwarfs.

Get the civic.
