YACT - Wiper Blades Replacement Time

Okay, the winter weather is showing that I need new wiper blades. The question is, should I go with a more standard blade, like the Bosch Micro Edge, or should I go and get the more expensive Micro Edge Excel?

Now granted the price difference between the two is not that great, but I still wonder is it worth it to get the more expensive one?

i buy the cheapies and replace them every 6 months, especially in the winter, when ice will really eat the rubber up

Agreed, every six months is ideal.

I agree. I get alot more life out of generic Trico's etc than Bosch or other high-dollar replacements, The Bosch don't last long at all.

just go to autozone and get the 6 dollar blades and use rubbing Alhocol on them every month and they will do a good job

Every six months?
I don't think I've replaced mine ever!!
It's been 2 years... how much do cheap/oem replacements cost?

Unless they're not working correctly anymore, you don't need to replace them. They're a few bucks each.

I don't think I know anyone that replaces them any more often than every 3 years.

Autozone has ones for around $6. I'm sure the other car stores (Pep Boys, etc...) are the same.

I haven't replaced the wipers since I got the car about 2.5 years ago. Unless they got replaced in one of the scheduled maint repairs (60k, 75k, 90k) that I've had done since I got it.

But anyway, mine are having problems, so I plan on getting them replaced.

Then again you live in SoCal, how often do you actually USE your wipers except if you drive through a rogue sprinkler?

Not to mention snow/ice which are murder on wiper blades.

I've always used BOSCH for aesthetic reasons. The others work but I can't stand the way they look. Also, the BOSCH's seem to last about twice as long. I've never had a BOSCH blade get torn up by ice in the winter.

Not much snow or ice here ,not to mention I have a heated windscreen🙂 ,lots of rain though.
In my old Sierra the wiper blades lasted 4yrs! :Q (they were Bosch btw)

I live in NorCal, but yeah, the wipers on my car have not been turned on since Last March or so, And they've never been icy since I've owned the car.

Sheesh every 6 months? That seems awfully frequent but we do get our fair share of RAIN, RAIN, RAIN and oh look some sun for 5 minutes, RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN.

So if we live in RAIN country (OR/WA) how often should we change our wiper blades?

My blades suck, but I haven't gotten around to changing them.

I think they've been on for a couple years, and we get pretty much the extremes of each season, so they're pretty much shot.

All streaky and sh!t...I'd swing down to the parts store if it wasn't snowing 😱

jeez 3 years? then again thats true, most people dont b other, they just wonder why their wipers aren't working all that well.
