ok, my dad is tired of me taking his car all the time, he agreed to buy one for me. he is looking to spend 10K +/- 1k

what i am looking for:
good gas mileage
cheap insurance
depenable
dont mind a little power under the hood

i dont really car much about the mileage cuz i only need the car for 3-4 years max

one minor restriction: my dad absolutely refuses to buy american, no and, ifs, or buts. its just not gonna happen

yes, civic was under consideration.

i went to test drive one and quite frankly, it was too small for though. i had to pull the seat all the way back to fit and even then it was not comfortable at all

wait you mean for an accord? i was just kidding... :p

but if thats what you want... you can find a 99-2000 ith 50-60k miles for $10k

if you go for a sportscar... your insurance will rape you for living in LA. :(

i would instantly purchase a 98-00 accord but i cant find anything in that range with less than 100k

i dont mind if the millage is high, but 100k is waaaaay to high. looking to get something along the lines of 70k at the most

$10k will get you a late 90's maxima in awesome condition. Gas is decent. Insurance I'm not sure, since I'm not young (if you are) anymore.

Basically in most casea anything fast will kill your insurance as you know :(

Oh BTW $10k will get you a 2000-01 or so altima with very few miles. 4 door, 150 horsepower, it's not bad at all, and solid reliability.

I'm in the same situation, 10k for a car and been looking at Civics also. You can find some 2002 w/15k miles for about that much.

Don't buy the accord. It's slow and boring :) Only with the latest accord model did they actually become worth owning :D

GXE auto, how much?

GXE, auto, 65k miles, 10k

good deal?
Sounds pretty good. If the car is in good condition it is a good buy. I was in one today actually - a guy at work has one with 67k miles and it pulls quite nicely. He has the autotragic transmission as well, but it's not too slow ;)

u can get a ford focus for that price.. I am talking a 2002 model or maybe a 2001.. and under warrenty..

go to Galpin Motors in the valley and give their used car lot a run around. Also check out the Alhambra Dodge dealer (we got a decent deal there - actually wonderies toyota is another place to get decent deal - both alhambra).

Among honda's norm reeves and Colonial honda (glendale) seem to deal pretty good. Also check Keyes lots in Van Nuys - friends have got good deals there.

My focus was from galpin and i got a really awesome deal for a 2000 focus that was under warrenty.

If your searching for used cars, use the phone to see if anything in your price range.. use the internet to your advantage too.

What's that mean? ;) I havne't checked kbb or edmunds or autotrader for that car exactly, but IF it's in good condition I would estimate that he's underselling by a little bit. I'd ask him to lower it anyway, but have your money ready, because it's a good car. Ask if he's had to replace the ignition coils. If he hasn't, you will have to eventually most likely. They cost $320 and can be done yourself in 30 min, or taken to a dealer and you'll pay $650.
