Prices
Civic DX: 11900
Accord: 10900
Cobalt: 14200 with the LS, and 3 options i want. or so. but its impossible to find specifically what i want. and GMS is supposed to be from stock. not ordered

the accord had nothing, nothing power pure and stripped, but an auto
civic was power everything

cobalt would be base model, but with some options on it.

which car would last the longest,

cobalt has warranty, the rest did not as they are used (maybe a 6month 7500 mile on the used ones)
new poll and question

If you were to decide between the Ion, and the Cobalt which would you choose. the Ion has a longer life so far, so its not a first year model true? i prefer the Ion, but wondering what you guys have heard about their reliability. also, they both have 1K incentives, and GMS pricing on both

Test drive them.

The Honda may be slightly more reliable, but if you know how to take care of a Cobalt through breakin, it may be an equal car.

$11900 for a used Civic DX with 30k miles? I bought a brand new one 2 years ago, a Civic EX with automatic for 16k

Past owner history will account for a lot if it were me. Personally, I like the Accord but depends if options float your boat. AC, power windows and cruise are a minimum for me now.

I would buy the Civic. I like the Cobalt, but it's too new to know how reliable it is, and like most Chevy product, I predict its resale value will drop too much for your liking (blame GM's heavy incentives and fleet sales).

Yeah you should be able to buy a NEW Honda Civic LX auto for around $14,500 after some haggling.

Ehh, avoid the DX at all costs. (Accord) The cost new b/t the DX and LX is only like $1.5-2K, used should be smaller.

I was just looking at Cadillac DTS' which are about the same price for a 2000 MY. Rather have that than some boring econobox.

You'd take a base-optioned Accord Vs. a loaded Civic? *shrug* to each his own

i really don't understand why you complain when you capture the value upfront rather than several years down the road.

and the fact that i would keep this car for 6 years basically kills resale on all cars anyways, pluss a 300 mile trip to and from school whenever i do that. and the summer drives to chicago/michigan.

No point getting a used Honda, since the resale doesn't drop all that much from new.
So either swing for a new Honda or get the Cobalt.

avoid 98-99 mazada 626 with 4cyl AND auto tranny, manuals are ok

mitsubishi (spelling) Galant were ok cars too, esp if you can get a good deal, 2000 and 2001 were the better years

camaro ss

edit: ok, i'll give some useful input. remember that buying a 98-02 accord with auto is like a crapshoot with the tranny problems they've been having. that civic will give you a lot of noise on the highway. and like i said, the only american car i would ever buy is a corvette, so no on the cobalt. i voted civic.
