I got in my car yesterday to find that the left rear footwell had 2 inches of water in it. I checked the doors, windows and sunroof and saw no apparent source of the water. I am guessing that it might have been forced in from underneath the car somehow, but its just conjecture.

any ideas?

It's a 200X Audi A6 btw...

the rear seat is an odd place for water to be pooled. Sit in the back and have someone spray a hose at the window seals, door seals, and sunroof to see if you can find the leak.

I'll try that, but the whole car seemed bone dry except for the well and (of course) the carpet.

have you ever put on aftermarket tail lights?

when i put some on my jetta a while back the seal around the lights between the light and the car didn't seal completely, and it caused water to get inside my car when it rained :(

Can you take the seats out somehow to find the leak? Also check the windows near them for any cracks or anything.
