YACT: What's wrong with my car?

I just got an oil change, but now my car is even worse!

When I idle, my engine makes a slow, steady clicking noise, and it becomes more rapid as the RPMs go above 2k.

I'm no mechanic, all I know is my car needs some fixin'

Can anyone identify what's wrong with it? And about how much it would cost to fix? (I'm poor :()

maybe they didn't put enough oil in

those things on the top of the engine can make a lot of clicking noises if they don't get oil

I can't do that immediately. I worked tonight and I work 28 hours over the next two days.

I'm thinking the oil change was just done poorly and that's still the problem. I really just want to know if it's serious or not and if I should try and find some time tomorrow to do it or if I can just wait till Sunday.

At least check the oil level immediately. If it's too low and you drive it you will do serious damage to the motor.

Have you checked the oil level like the others had said?

how can they change the oil "poorly" ?

they either didn't put enough in (you must get enough in ASAP or you'll be buying a new engine) or put too much in or your car is borked

just check the oil dude, shirley you can check the oil in your car yourself or get a buddy or co-worker to do it

It is exactly this, sometimes running a little higher thickness of oil will help. My isuzu trooper did it when it got to around 80,000 miles with 10w30 but with 10w40 it wouldn't do it.

Yeah if OP is asking about this, I'd be worried about him properly checking the oil as well.

your oil likely has nothing to do with it. you need to have your valves checked and/or adjusted. BTW, an oil change is not a fix for anything but dirty oil.
