these are the interior pics.... i took them last night. i took exterior pics last night, too, but they didn't come out too well since it was too dark outside.

EDIT: i got it because my friend totalled my car.... it was a 1999 volkswagen passat (r.i.p. 🙁)

it's got 82k miles on it... the interior is so comfortable and new-feeling. the exterior looks almost flawless.

i got it for only $7950.

now, the bitch of it is that i've got to drive all the way back home (maryland) to get it registered and get tags. why? because fvck missouri. the lisence process is so expensive and tedious... it'd just be easier (and possibly more enjoyable) for me to just drive home 16.5 hours, get things taken care of, and drive back. cruise control works.... i could start and finish my audiobooks, too 🙂 i've got to cut some classes, though... oh well.... 15% absence rule.

my first car was a 1994 volvo 940 turbo. it was solid. aside from the sunroof malfunctioning on me a few times, it's fuel economy started dragging ass. that's why i ended up getting the passat. i loved the shyt out of that passat... blue lights in the dash ftw. but i dunno... i kinda love the shyt out of this volvo, too 🙂 i just wish i could change the green dash lights to blue somehow...

oh, it needs new speakers like a mofo. it's putting out 25w x 4 channels.... i don't know crap about car audio, but i do know that that sucks. my passat had pretty damn awesome speakers/sound... in comparison, the volvo doesn't hold a candle to the vw audio. so, now, i gotta shell out some cash and get some good audio.... nothing crazy like huge subs and whatnot... just something modest, yet awesome as hell...

Nice car.

I thought this was a little weird:

"excuse the doctor's bag, books, and patient gown... interior pic 1"

If you want us to know you're a doctor (or whatever) why not just say it?

[edit]I should add a 😀 just to let you know I'm just giving you a hard time as it might not have been obvious.[/edit]

🙂 it's all good. i'm not a doctor... i'm a student. i just didn't want you guys to think that i carried a gym bag and garbage around in my car. i take good care of it 🙂

Volvo's top end audio packages are literally industry leading. Looks like your S40 didn't have that option. I have a 1998 S70 T5 with the 13 speaker Dynaudio system, and it's the most amazing factory system I've yet to hear.

So is your S40 a 1.9T?

yeah, it's a 1.9t

i'm pretty sure i had the premium sound package. it wasn't dynaudio or anything, though.

Oh yeah, right after the "boxy but good" era...nice cars. pretty well built, but can be somewhat expensive to maintain. How well it was maintained in it's "previous life" will have a big effect on that. Lots of good on-line parts places to help save you money over buying parts from the stealer/dealer...

FCP Groton is a great place for parts for it. The 1.9T is a low pressure turbo, so it doesn't have the performance potential of the T4, which was never brought to North America.

i'm not trying to street race or anything like that... i just like riding in style and comfort with added safety 🙂

i'm not big into the after-market look... can i get dynaudio for my car?

It wouldn't be cost effective to put the OEM top end audio stuff in your car, it would cost a ton. You can get new speakers put in your car in the existing spaces and use the stock grills. Also look at head units from Nakamichi for an OEM look. A new head unit will make things a lot better. I'm not sure what amp you have, but the top end Volvos have killer amps stock.

Best thing to do is check out a local, individually owned (not BB or CC) audio shop to give you their opinions.

Oh yeah, and come on over to Volvospeed.com. Register on the forums and check out our Audio\video sections. There are definitely people there who can help you. We're the biggest FWD Volvo forum on the net.
