First list the car you drive, or which of your parents' car you drive, or whatever. Manufacturer, year/model, any pertinent details, etc.

As for me, I don't actually DRIVE ("learning") but I've driven my parents' cars, one of which happens to be a Civic :)P). Stock red 95 DX... basically a POS on wheels that gets good mileage. :p

1st gear - no higher than about 45-50KM/h (28-31mph)
2nd gear - over 100KM/h (62ish mph)

Not sure about 3rd gear... but the highest I brought it was 180KM/h in 4th gear (112mph).

At that point the car accelerates too slowly to actually bother seeing if it can reach the end of its gears. Probably doesn't have enough pwoer to do it. :p Oh well, it's a slow POS, but at least it put up with hours of torture that night. :p

So, if you've done stupid sh!t in your or your parents' car(s), do tell ;)

2nd = 47 MPH
3rd = 70 MPH
4th = 85-90?
5th = 120 projected, only done 110 though

dunno - don't really care to know *shrug*

people will always say something like "I can do 60 in 2nd", but that doesn't mean much to me - so I've never cared to test it

Old Accord (4-speed auto): 1st - 35 mph; 2nd - 65 mph; 3rd - ~95 mph; 4th - more than 115, theoretical maximum without wind resistance: 140-145 (No way that the car would make it though.)

924S: 1st - 30 mph; 2nd - 62 mph; 3rd - ?; 4th - ?; 5th - ? (factory estimate: 134). Anything over 80 and the sunroof starts to get sucked out so I'm keeping it under 75 until I get the new gears to replace the stripped ones.

Good point... doing 100 in second gear really doesn't mean sh1t... I mean, look how fast I'm going revving the sh!t out of that civic... doesn't actually GET to that speed fast, even though it sounds like it should be :p

hahaha

I only take my car up to:

1st- 15mph @ 3200 rpm
2nd- 25mph @ 3200 rpm
3rd- 38mph @ 3200 rpm
4th- 60mph @ 3200 rpm
5th- 85mph @ 3200 rpm

According to a book I have, it get's it's max torque @ 5000rpm. I have no desire to ever go above 3500 though.

Oops, sorry. I forgot to post that.

It's a 1991 Ford Festiva. 1.1L V4. I don't want to take it any higher because it's been driven like that for 12 years and 187,000 miles, and the only engine work that I know of that it needed done is a valve-cover gasket replacement. It's a damn fine car, and it goes fast enough the way I drive it.

:Q

I don't blame you. I wouldn't want to stress that Ford engine anymore than I had to.
