Strange though, there's a diagram of one mounted on a "deformable" wheel, then the pics of it on the car make it look like it's mounted on a regular rim.

Anyway, there must be a covering - what would happen if ice got in between the spokes (or any other foreign object for that matter).

I don't think ice would be a problem...seems like it would just break off. I could see possibilities for problems though

wrong? i never said they wouldnt wear down. that why i said drastic cut instead of eliminate.

ive bought more tires due to blow outs and leaks than from worn out tread. maybe im just unlucky.

I don't know what kind of tires YOU buy, but the only time I've had to purchase tires is to replace bald ones.

Leaks are repaired for free at many tire shops, and blowouts only occur if you have really crappy tires, or are really unlucky (running over a nail-filled board, say)

Let the new poll speaketh!

Wow, 2 months late on the repost.

Hey, and you're 25 posts late calling it out! :disgust:

EDIT: If you're calling repost, and a thread convo was in progress for more than 20 posts, perhaps it's new to the vast majority of ATOT. Except you of course.

mid grade micheline and goodyear. i dont travel but 10 miles round trip to work and back, and then normal driving to the store, on weekends, and the occasional vacation. i have no need for high dollar tires on a chevy malibu.

i can only speak from my experience, so maybe my tire wear is atypical. im surely not an expert.
