So... i'm about to sell my 1997 ES300 in favor of something sportier. It's bad when you start to get really sleepy behind the steering wheel or your left foot stepping on an imaginary clutch on red lights :) I used to drive an MX-6 before the Es300 and i'm starting to think i'm a fool for selling my MX :D

Can anybody help me with some car choices? Of course i want a sporty, fun, non-american car. I want a 6-speed, mind boggling horsepower is not required... just as long as it pulls respectable power. Also need a fairly nice interior and pretty reliable. Fuel consumption i don't really care about as long as it gets more than 15mpg. I mean i'm 25, it's time for some fun because i'll have all the time i need to drive 30+ mpg econobox/sedans once i go past 30 and have kids. I've budgeted about 28k, less is better of course.

I've been thinking about the Mazda RX-8 and Acura RSX-S. I have test driven the 350Z and personally i don't like the clutch feel and my roommate already has 1 and the parking lot is just not big enough for 2 Zs :D

What do you think?

Thanks y'all

Update: i finally bought a 2004 RX-8 w/ touring pkg and Navigation. Total is 28k, insurance is 750/yr full coverage so not as bad as i thought.

g35 coupe...... anything else would be uncivilized.

rsx-s' are great, but then everyone thats honda/acura related is going to want to contest you, and thats really annoying. i hate peolpe who do that to me (i drive a b16a powered civic hatch).

if you get a g35, your above that " class ", plus that car is badass. very nice, luxerious, and fast. and great resell value.

how much are you selling the ES300 and where are you? i might be interested...

btw i'd go with a WRX or a G35 coupe if you can afford one. if the budget is under $15k i'd get a maxima.

Yeah i don't think you can get a G35 for 28k in these parts, they do for, like 31k or something like that. and yeah i realized about the RSX-S teen image but still a fairly fun car nevertheless.

Corolla XRS..still a bit on the economy end, though.

WRX...Evo...older BMW M3? Not sure if they're 5 or 6sp, though..

I hear they're fun but I know I would not be able to deal with 15 mpg and repeatedly adding oil every few thousand miles.

The GTO with a V8 and loads more power gets much better gas mileage, which is what I'd get.

15mpg is not really an issue since i commute like 8 mi one way everyday and only 30% of it stuck in traffic and the rest is back roads and as far as i can tell you just need to check oil level every fill ups and add a quart every couple thousand miles or so.

The Legacy GT looks pretty tempting @ $25k from carsdirect. I haven't test driven one though so i'll have to see to it first. That would mean i'm cross-shopping it with TSX and the likes (sedans) if i'm even considering it though.

My budget is $28k and i'm sticking with it... and somehow i don't think Infiniti would sell G35C base $2k below invoice. If you know a place that would, hook me up :D

I saw an RX-8 at Chili's parking lot the other night, I feel in love instantly... that's what I'd recommend.

Legacy will blow away a TSX from a driver's standpoint. Legacy just needs some better shocks. The stock ones are kinda soft.

04 GTO's can be had for $25-27k with all the rebates and discounts. That's a lot of car for the $$.
