I rode with him in it and it's got great acceleration (at least compared to the other cars i've driven). It isn't quite as small and nimble as I prefer but it's def. got plenty of power. Anyone have opinions on this vehicle? It seems I can find some with around 70-80k miles for about 10k

Yeah looking back at your requirement, it might be tough.
Finding a SI under 60K miles for $10K might not be possible but it should be close.
Be patience and look harder.

Milage shouldn't be a main priority since a Civic will last you forever.

I have yet to find a Mazdaspeed Protege for $10K unless it has a salvage title.

God don't get a civic...i love my '99 civic, but after driving a WRX it just feels so...inadequate.

But hey, at least it looks good.

It has nothing to do with price..it's just torqueless fwd versus insane awd + turbo. I dunno, I personally think the WRX is today what the civic used to be yesterday. And unless I got a steal, i'd personally stay away from used WRX's (gotta love their tranny issues).

WOW, heres a really nice one with 57K miles for only $10K.
Actually, I will be calling them in the morning for this car.

Nice find dude. Unfortunately, I live in Jersey which seems to be the overpriced car capitol of the US :( I'd prefer to get a car in a location that I can drive to within a few hours to a) test drive it and b) avoid any transportation costs.

still shopping?

used civic, doesn't matter what type, throw a turbo on there, run low(er) boost to avoid excessive wear on the engine.

I drive a 98 maxima, it's great, but not exactly the most nimble car if you don't throw some money down for struts/springs.
