what's the chip do? increase boost? if so that voids the warentee. of course it's hard to prove if the chip is easily removable.

To get 230 you need more than a chip. The Golf/Jetta for some reason routinely get a little more horsepower than the A4/Passat, probably due to the different exhaust lengths. And the most I've seen peope get on the Mark4's is 205, maybe 210 hp at the extreme. Without switching turbos, you'd probably need exhaust, intake, and intercooler work to get close to 230.

i think m bro's A4 is close to 300. He has aftermarket turbo, exhaust, diverter valve, chip, and i think that's it.

What he means is when someone modifies their car, the actual HP gain is 30% less than the claimed HP gain.

i might have been optimistic with the 230hp. maybe around 210...definately above 200 though. and it was just 1 chip, no other mods. it totally changed the feel of the car though. poor guy...he had to sell it when he moved to London

Wow. That A4 is pretty hot - my roomate was considering getting that K04 turbo for his MKIV Jetta -- It's pretty much the only mod he hasnt done it seems like.. Does the Passat have the same Neuspeed chip as the A4?

my 1.8t A4 is chipped also.. and an A4 with an aftermarket turbo can reach 300. the kits are 280~ alone, throw in some exhaust and a few other things, maybe test pipe, and youll reach 300
