YACT: Totaled car, need a replacement vehicle... any ideas?

My RX-8 is totaled due to an accident this weekend. Some idiot decide to run a stop sign at the last minute and didn't see me coming. Anyways... appraiser decided it was totaled and i need a replacement vehicle.
I don't have the check yet since the other guy's incurance company (Geico) is still trying to determine if the vehicle is covered (the other guy was using a rental car) - but what i know is that my vehicle is totaled and i should be searching for another one.

So.... the hunt begins... i need a fun car, good gas milage (LOL every other car's MPG looks very good now that i've used rx8 🙂)... it doesn't have to be new but reasonably priced. Navi is a plus since i had it on my 8 and i've grown attached to them and found that i'm always in need of it. I don't need a billion horsepower - i won't be racing anyone from one stoplight to another. Know any vehicle that fit that bill? 🙂

Thanks!

so your desires are:

inexpensive
good mpg
navigation

Sounds like you should get a used civic and a magellan =p

Depending on how much you drive, you might want to look into a car that doesn't require premium gas. The extra 20 cents a gallon adds up over time. Make sure you take your rims off the rx-8 before it gets junked.

Well i want an OEM nav if at all possible but i'm gonna get Pioneer avic-d1 if the car won't have any oem navi.

I don't think i can the rims off my car... it's OEM wheels. Can you actually take things off car that has been declared total? I mean it belongs to the insurance company and all.

I'm at a point in my my life where i don't want to be tied down with a big commitment like a house yet. I need to be able to relocate anywhere anytime when something comes up - a house would basically add unneccesary complication when i move.

That aside... how about a Miata+aftermarket navi?

I wish i have the guts to buy vehicle with similar price or higher now since i realized even though the car is new and had all warranty and stuff, i'd be losing a lot in the first 1-2yrs of ownership whereas if i buy a newer used car i wouldn't be losing quite as much.

I would go with a pontiac Solstice, or the Saturn Sky. That is if your looking for that small coupe segment. Otherwise treat urself to an Accord Coupe...the new ones look real clean.

Sucks about your car. At least you are ok.

My wife just got rear-ended on the highway and the person that hit us had Geico insurance. They were actually very fast with their payment so hopefully you won't have to worry about that.
