YACT: Tire size question

ok, I've got an old beater Lesabre (91) that needs new tires. On the local swap boards, there is a guys who has some tires for a decent price. Problem is, the size is a little different

My car calls for a 205/75-14, the tires he has are 215/70-14.
I'm not really concerned about speedometer changes, I'm just curious if these tires will work on my factory steel wheels?

yes they should work on the steelies.
it'll look a lil bit beefier but with 14's i'm pretty sure you couldn't tell the diff.

About a 1/4" shorter and wider. Not far off enough to matter.


...but then I replaced the 255/65R16 on my car with 285/60

sweet...I hope they are as good as he is saying they are. Can't beat $30 for 4 tires with good tread!

Just for curiousity's sake, does anyone know how to calculate how far off my speedometer will be with the slightly shorter tires??

That's fairly accurate, but can be off by a few mph. For the little difference in the tires, I doubt you'd be able to get an accurate enough reading to tell.

Actually its very accurate much more so than a speedometer.
I've tested it many times in many vehicles. A cop buddy of mine said they never even considered ticketing speeding til at least a 5mph violation cause he said many speedometers are out easily that much.
A GPS is no worse than 1 mph cause thats its resolution
