YACT: The great turn signal debate

Driving home from work today, I found it interesting who uses their signals and who doesn't.

I use my signal pretty much ALL THE TIME (even in the wee hours of the morning), but some people never seem to signal...

I'm also much more courteous to people who signal, and will slow down and let them in. I was wondering if I'm in the minority (as it seems), or if other people believe in the importance of signalling as I do.

I always leave enough room ahead of me for a car to merge into my lane, but if they are stupid and are going too slow I am not going to slow down to let them in.

I hate people like you, I'm crawling in stop and go and you let some asshat who just skipped the whole wait by weaving like a mad man just to cut a few cars back in the lane. If you ever do that in front of me be prepared for some road rage from behind. One car fine, two cars your a bad driver, three or more cars and I'm pissed at you.

No, I don't leave ANY space in stop and go traffic. It is every man for himself. In fact I am usually the mad man that cuts to the front of the line without waiting.

I only let one person in at a time usually...and if it's one of those highways where people KNOW the lane's gonna end, so morons will pull in at the last second, screw 'em.

What REALLY pisses me off is that on I-5 North, there's one section where a good mile of the left-hand lane traffic is backed up during rush hour, people trying to get onto the express lanes. Some bastards will go to the next lane over, zoom past everyone, then STOP from 50MPH and change into the left lane right where it splits off. Slows EVERYONE down, and shows NO respect for other people. Those guys, I do everything in my power to block. The police should have a helicopter with a huge magnet attached, and if they see anyone do something like that, they should pick them up, and drop the car onto a big rock from 3 miles in the air.

I always signal (except when I notice that the drivers behind me and ahead of me aren't signalling. If they don't care a fvck about me, I don't care a fvck about them
I slow down ONLY if the other vehicle give the signal. I ALWAYS slow down for trucks, because I have observed that very few people let a truck go ahead of them.
I don't let vehicles behind me get ahead of me without signalling. If my car thats behind hits that idiot's car, it's still my fault, right (for insurance purposes). So why take cahnces?

Colorado is the worst, at least people will get out of the left lane if they're going slower than the pace of traffic.

i generally signal all the time even when there aren't any cars around. the only time i don't signal is when i think i'm speed racer trying to get to a bomb that's about to detonate so i can save the world! other than that, i hate you fvckers that don't signal when you're making a turn. you make the people behind you brake harder than they would have if you had signaled and often times create accidents. i also hate you fvckers that are looking for an address and slow down, speed up, slow down, until you find the place, all the while pissing off every driver behind you.

Middle one is 'it depends' because, say, if they are ignoring the fact that a lane is ending and then they decide they are stuck then I might be a dick about it, especially if there was plenty of room behind me and they wanted to pass.

Otherwise, I use my signals when there's other cars to signal. If not, I may be lazy.

signals is how i tend to rate a driver, though they arnt' an endall definition, i definatley appreciate a driver taking the time (cause you know.. it's so damn hard to signal.. what with the signal being conviniently located and all, and very easy to use) to signal.

I ALWAYS signal, when i move the wheel to turn, lane change, etc i'll signal. I've even done it in parkinglots when no one was around, i felt kinda silly after i realized i had signaled, but then meh, it's habitual now to signal as i move my car

I let people in who are signaling. Unless they are a jackass doing something jackassish (ie. weaving in traffic, speading WAY to fast, or trying to save time by wasting mine [ie. weaving, repeating myself, but this really annoys me].

Lastly, if you're not signaling, i'll move to where you can't switch. I fear one day i will be hit because a bad driver tends not to signal, and will tend not to check before initiating a turn. but then again, body damage means new paint job.... that i wouldn't mind. and I'll honk like a fiend when you start to move over lanes anyway, though it's nice to see most people who've replied are similiar to me..

I don't signal unless I need to get in, usually I'm moving along enough to where I have plenty of room to not have the need to "request" to be let in.

I do however take 2 different highways that are very light on traffic from my route to and from work.

If I'm in heavy traffic I will signal however all the time.

If someone else is signaling to get over it depends, if the are moving along as fast or faster than me then I let them over every time, but you always will get the person that?s trying to get in front of you going waaaay to slow, for these people I kindly leave them in my dust.

I'm always in the fast lane so I'm not normally getting passed anyways.

my biggest pet peeve besides rubberneckers ... not using the turn signal. If you cut me off but use a turn signal, I don't even mind. Do it without a turn signal and your @$$ is mine.
