Okay I ahve a 1990 Ford Tbird with the 3.8L supercharged engine in it. Quite a while ago somethign broke on it and the car ceased to run. I later foudn out the broken part was likely the harmonic balance(I say likely becuase the info I have sucks, I am getting it looked at for free by a family friend of my girlfriends and the communication in this family sucks). Anyways I am also hearing that a pulley of some type also broke. I don't know much about cars, so I have no idea what it is. But I have been informed it somehow connects either directly to or in line with the harmonic balance. In order to decide if its worth the money to fix it, i need to knwo what this part is. ANy help would be great.

OK coolred if I read your description correctly you are talking about a harmonic balancer and crank pulley. As you can see from the picture the balancer mounts on the crankshaft and the pulley bolts to the balancer. If the balancer is broken there is a good chance it damaged the crankshaft position sensor (CKP). I would recommend replacing it with the other two parts. The overall cost shouldn't be over $500 and well worth it if the car is in decent shape.

I see you live on Ohio, since I live in southeastern Michigan I might be able to help out if you need it.

Good Luck,
