YACT-Speaker upgrade for 2003 Maxima?

Recommend me some speakers. I'm also thinking of replacing the HU with a Pioneer I have lying around so I can use the Pioneer iPod interface. I know I can install this HU with a GXE dash kit, just not sure about speakers. The car has speakers in the front and rear doors only and they are 6 1/2" round speakers.

Might add an amp and sub later.

I've done that. There are literally hundreds of choices ranging from $40-$200.

What's your budget? I personally went with a pair of Boston Acoustics SL65 speakers (6.5" on the front doors) to keep the stock look of my car - avoiding components. I highly recommend them! Just be sure you power them with a good amp. They will sound like @$$ if you do not amp them and expect to run them on HU power. I went with an Alpine F540, which is 80W RMSx4 @ 4ohm. Big beast, lots of clean power.

If you have a shallow mounting depth, check out Boston's NX series.

Thanks, I'm going to stick with the OEM HU for now so I bought 2 pairs of 6.5" Infinity Reference speakers. Crutchfield had them for $100/pair but I found them elsewhere for $58/pair.

I have heard good comments on Infinity reference speakers - nice price too! I don't know how well they'll run off of HU power, but the best of luck to you.
