Was the plug OIL FOULED (Oil on the TIP of the plug) or was the out side of the plug oily?

Went you started the engine and it smoked, was the smoke blueish or whitish?

If blue = oil, if white = you have coolant leaking in, if black = too rich a fuel mixture.

Yes, the gaskets aren?t too expensive, but the labor to replace them is high due to the amount of components you need to remove to gain access. I would be cheap gaskets either, since this is a know concern on these engine I would get the update Nissan gasket and do the job right.

Good Luck,

I think you are right on. That would explain why I only saw smoke (blueish I think) only the first time I started the car. Like I said, everything seems normal including gas mileage, so I don't think oil is getting to the electrodes. There were no carbon deposits IIRC. The part were the brand of spark plug is (Bosch) looked black though

AHHH Probably just a valve cover gasket then!

Doh didn't even think about that, I automatically assumed he had oil on the electrode side of the plug :) Good thinking!
