No, it's nothing too special. Not a Subaru Legacy GT nor Acura TSX, which were the two other cars I was considering.

I bought a 2005 Mazda 3S 4-door (5MT), Velocity Red with red/black cloth interior. I got the following options: Moonroof & 6CD package, Sport package, ABS/SAC/SAB package, Xenon & TPMS package, rear-lip spoiler, wheel locks, and a bra. I wrote a check for about $20K OTD.

While I came very close to buying the Subaru, I began to question the longevity of the turbo, and more importantly, my gas, insurance, and (most likely) speeding ticket costs. I decided the Mazda would be fun enough and still allow me to have enough money in the bank for at least one-year's tuition at USC-Columbia. I just didn't feel right spending much more with grad school looming in the next year or so.

So, this purchase is behind me. Best of all, it's paid for and insured ($667 every 6 months through USAA). It felt like buying anything else, like a digital camera or computer. Just wrote a check.

PICS

Edit: Bought from Hennessy Mazda in Morrow, GA.

Funny thing about that. My mom missed being part of the buying experience, so she called the dealer and requested that accessory be put on. I kind of have mixed feelings about it too, so it most likely won't stay on too long.

Looks good, TAKE THE BRA OFF.. talk about waiting to ruin the paint

I like that exact color, just like the one I test drove and wanted.

ahaha.. yeah well they do have that 3m stick on protectant stuff, it's good for non-car nuts, as it does the job OK, but most people are annoyed by the look of it, (you can see edges) if they actually care about what their cars look like :)

definetely take the bra off. red paint fades fast. tan lines on a car = bad. besides, bras are like plastic couch covers. yeah, it protects the upholstry, but what good is that if you don't get to sit on it?

that said... cool car, man! lots of goodies on it, and a great price for what you're getting. i'm sure you'll enjoy it, and kudos for paying cash and thinking ahead financially for your tuition and stuff.

Still have it. Will remain in the garage and slowly upgraded over the next few years. It just will nolonger be my daily driver and only brought out on those perfect spring and fall driving days.

Dayum!

LOL. Even 24 hours later, I find it amazing that I did! But in reality it's like writing any other check for a good or service.
