The bumper to bumper warranty on my 05 Legacy GT ends in about 800 miles. The Powertrain warranty lasts until 60k miles though. If I want to extend the bumper to bumper to 100k miles, it's going to set me back around 1300-1500 bucks. Subaru is a highly reliable brand though, so I don't want to throw my money away. I'm leaning towards not purchasing the extended warranty. What do you think?

How did you put so many miles on a car in one year? Anyway, IMO, you should've bought the extended warranty when the car was new.

EX warranties are like insurance: You are betting you'll wreck the car. The ins company is betting you won't.

I bought the extended warranty on my SUV and I'm glad I did. The transmission died (violently) after I pulled about 10 people out of the snow (don't tell anyone...shhhh!) and I got it replaced free...except for the three weeks w/o my truck, of course.

To replace the tranny would've cost $5K at the dealer. A rebuilt would be $3K at AAMCO (I called and checked.) AFAIAC, I came out ahead.

I just bought the car a little over a week ago. Those are mostly highway miles (the good miles).
