I'm going to be buying a new car in the next few months (2 or less) and I'm pretty sure I want the Scion tC. Do any of you have any experience with this car or Scion in general? I'm looking for both good and bad as well as any problems you or friends have had with them. Thanks in advance!

remember - no haggling on the prices :p Also, the addons are cheaper to buy online - dealership prices are a rip off :p

yeah, the whole "pure price" thing sucks, but the price of a base scion is great when you look at what you'd have to add to something else (say a civic) to make it have the same stuff (dual sunroofs, etc). I'm going to get a base, automatic trans, in one of 4 colors. If I do decide to get any add ons it'd be the auto dimming mirror and the lip spoiler.

i carpooled with a girl that had a scion tC...very nice car, pretty quiet even at 80mph (compared to my civic :D)...

I had a BCP Scion tC. Was a nice car. Loved the stock stereo system and the way the car was in general actually. I needed more speed, so I got an rsx-s instead.
hehe. But the tC is definitely a w1nn4r, especially since the supercharger is coming out in august for it, finally.

Wrong, stock stereo plays MP3s. I have a tC myself. I love it, very happy with it, up to 12K miles on it, and I have no complaints at all about it. I dont have the stock stereo myself anymore, kind of ripped the whole car apart and put it my own.

Plenty of room, nice ride overall, very smooth and comfortable. I drove 2000 miles round trip already in it and it wasnt uncomfortable after a few hours like many cars too.

Based on what I inferred a few weekends ago in front of my house yes.

Long story short: Neighbor has a teenaged girl who I've seen with some guy who has a new tC (guy is also an ass as he doesn't seem to have any problem parking right in front my driveway). Anyhow, came home one night at about 2am. Car is parked in front of my house and it kinda looks like the windows are bit fogged up. As I was out closing the gate I saw the parking lights flash and nobody around......lets put 1 and 1 together shall we?

unfortunately, the only pic i have of her is from the neck down (she posed for some pics so the company could use it in their flyers), and since i just quit i don't think i'll be seeing much of her anymore... :( she looked good though, and kept saying crap like "XYZ said we should go out, whaddya think about that" -- which is fine, i would've taken the bait, but I knew she had a boyfriend so I just held back...

Next Scion-related question:

I have a custom sound system (Infinity Perfect 6.1 Components, Infinity Kappa 6 x 9s, Alpine 9815 head unit, Infinity Perfect 10.1 sub, Autotek Amp, JBL Amp). I know that this will add value to my car, and while I'll have to leave the speakers in there (less the sub) I don't know if I want to leave the head unit in there as well. The sub and amps are coming out for sure. I'm thinking about selling the head unit and autotek amp since I won't be needing them anymore. Is this a good plan? Should I install the head unit in my scion or is the stock one ok? If you're interested in any of the stuff please PM me as I would prefer that this not get moved to FS.

Don't go with the stock headunit - it has no RCA-OUTS, and is no better than any other OEM headunit IMHO.

If you're not trading in the car just get some cheap stuff to throw in there. I wouldn't leave a nice system like that. If you are trading in the car...my understanding is they won't even check the stereo so just take it all out.

Yep - the type of stereo means almost NOTHING when trading in a car.

more info from rossman as always.

btw, yes, the stock stereo system allows you to play mp3s via CD and also you can dock an iPOD on the 06' tC's. It has steering wheel inputs for you to control your stereo.

I've been told that the stock stereo is worth more when trading it in than some high-end third party one. I kept my stock head unit, but I'll be leaving the Bostons I have in there behind. :( (Just a reason to get new ones!!! Plus they're coaxial :p)

blast.. i noticed in the IS video it had an aux port in the center arm rest. an IPOD dock would be nice on my 3. Also need to find out if anyone has used the steering controls w/ other HU's... not that I plan on changing it anytime soon..

Ok, so I just put down a deposit on a Flint Mica '06 tC...the head unit, sub, and amps are coming out of the car. If someone buys my car outright in the next week then I'll give them the head unit. If not, the stock stuff (less the speakers) is going back in the car.
