Im runnin 245/45/17 tires on a 225/50/17 stock setup. What sort of effect is this going to have (good and/or bad)

The nice men at Sears said it would be good.

Anyways, the handling seems a LOT better... but what about long term issues>?

as long as nothing rubs you are fine... long term issues i can think of is maybe lower fuel mileage because of higher rolling resistance.. but i doubt you'll notice that

If the overall diameter is the same, it won't have any effect on speedo - should be close
If the tires aren't 'squeezed' on the rims, no prob. If they are, you'll get wear in the center of the tires because of the bulging.
If they don't rub, WTH?

🙂

Hmm ill have to look into that...

really, it's not going to make much of a difference, the big difference in handling you're noticing is probably mostly cause you're new tires are better than your old ones, rather than cause they're .8 inches wider.
