that just means his first gear doesn't have a synchro.. you can put a car into any gear regardless of speed(except reverse) assuming it can handle it mechanically

LOL... thats funny my Auto redlines at 5600 but somehow I'm able to make it shift at 5800 when I want it to... Hmmm how is that possible y0

Well, it's a distributor that has electronically controlled timing advance. It's not terribly old. 😛

Though this does remind me that I need to clean and gap the points on my other car. 😉 😀

Actually, my car has full synchromesh and it's still possible to "lock out" a gear if you try an aggressive downshift. A 4-2 downshift often requires double clutching.
